New Inbound Tourism Strategies For Tourism Management Degree Students

Thank you UiTM for inviting me to share my thoughts on new inbound tourism strategies with the Tourism Management degree students this morning.

It was a meaningful session because these students are not just future tourism graduates — they can become the next generation of tourism innovators, experience creators, digital marketers, AI users, and inbound industry leaders.

Malaysia’s inbound tourism industry needs fresh thinking.

We need young talents who understand tourism, but also know how to use digital tools, AI, content, storytelling, data, and global platforms to help local tourism businesses become more competitive.

The future of inbound tourism will not be built by old methods alone.

It will be shaped by graduates who can create new experiences, improve destination value, and connect Malaysia to the global market in smarter ways.

I have strong faith in UiTM graduates.

UiTM remains one of Malaysia’s biggest tourism and hospitality talent pipelines, with thousands of students under the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management across multiple campuses.

During the session, I gave the students a simple 30-day challenge: identify one hidden local experience in your hometown that international tourists would happily pay for.

Why?

Because the future of inbound tourism is not only about visiting famous places. It is about discovering local stories, culture, food, people, skills, traditions, and everyday experiences that can be turned into valuable tourism products.

My message to them was simple:

Don’t just study tourism. Create tourism. Don’t just become tourism graduates. Become tourism game changers.
