Tourism Players Should Learn Something Powerful From Surah At Tin

Today I learned something powerful from Surah At-Tin.

“Indeed, We created man in the best form.” (Surah At-Tin 95:4)

As someone working closely with tourism businesses across Malaysia, this verse made me pause and reflect.

Allah reminds us that every human being is created with tremendous potential.

The question is not whether we have potential.

The question is whether we are developing it.

I see many tourism businesses with amazing products—beautiful homestays, local food, cultural experiences, nature adventures, passionate guides and welcoming communities.

Yet many remain invisible to the world.

Not because they lack quality.

But because they have not adapted to how today’s travellers discover and book experiences.

Surah At-Tin also reminds us that people can fall from their highest potential if they stop striving and improving.

The same is true for businesses.

Standing still in a rapidly changing world is no longer an option.

For me, becoming AI-ready is not just about using artificial intelligence.

It is about fulfilling the trust (amanah) Allah has given us—to use our talents, knowledge and opportunities wisely, to serve others better, and to ensure that the experiences our communities have created can be found, trusted and booked by travellers around the world.

Perhaps the greatest lesson from Surah At-Tin is this:

Allah has already given us the potential.

Our responsibility is to develop it.

For those of us in tourism, that means continuously learning, improving, embracing new technology, and creating experiences that genuinely benefit travellers and local communities alike.

What potential has Allah placed in your business that is still waiting to be unlocked?
